motoblur is not like Sense UI where it is always functioning as a replacement to standard Google experience devices. Motoblur pretty much is google experience with a few private widgets that provide much more functionality. so if you simply want to not see motoblur anymore just delete the custom UI widgets. as for the three bottom homescreen icons, i'm sorry to tell you that they are permanent. so unless you are a master at finding root and then tweaking code your stuck with the green phone icon and the blue contacts icon. But don't worry root will be found with time.

I still dont think it was answered.. is there a way to disable motoblur

I addressed this in another tread and the cliffs notes answer is "maybe" bit just out of curiosity why do you want to get rid of it? It adds a lot of functionality and you can get rid of as many of the desktop widgets as you want.

I actually find the blur interface much better than SenseUI and the standard Android interface. I mean, all the interfaces on Android are like supersets to the base interface. None of them truly replace the base UI they just add/move elements around.

well.. I originally asked the question because I was thinking about getting the phone, but I'm not all into the social networking stuff, so I wouldn't want my Android Interface cluttered with a bunch of social networking junk. I then found out that ATT / Motorola opted to replace the default search with Yahoo instead of Google. This was another turn off for me. I can't stand yahoo's crap. I have decided to wait for the N1 or Desire on ATT (I hope).

Really it's just the yahoo search box from what I could tell and you can ditch that if you want. Unfortunately you can't change it to Yahoo even thoughthe AT&T guy I talked to thought you could lol.

You don't have long to wait for the AT&T Nexus as it is already being reviewed so I would expect it in the next couple weeks or so. I do have a feeling the Desire, while it will have Google as a search will still have a lot of AT&T's proprietary crap on it, but hopefully you can remove what you don't want....
