Motorola Assist problems

The text reading works (have tested it reliably) by prompting you to say listen for the text to be played. It does not default read the text. So the worst that would happen is you have a phone say "Text message from _____" However if you have the phone on silent, she wont say anything (yes I assign gender specific pronouns to my phones). So silence the phone (which you should do anyways on a flight) and there will be no embarrassment.

I've done a bit of searching and discovered that the bluetooth connection in my 2013 Chevy Silverado is through the OnStar module and not the radio system. My interface is limited to phone calls... by the vehicle and not my phone.

I don't have the MAXX, yet, but my (now destroyed) Maxx HD connected to the Onstar Bluetooth module and I could use either the phone or my Onstar minutes. Around town, I would initiate and receive calls via my phone on bluetooth; however, when traveling on the interstates, I would initiate the call via the Onstar module using Onstar (Verizon) minutes. (Using Onstar allows you to use the higher wattage system and the larger antenna on top of the vehicle and out here in UT, you need as much wattage and as big of an antenna you can get to obtain service in many areas.:)

(I also have a 2013 Silverado, never tried the nav on the phone since I have the built in nav from GM.)

You can all install "Dragon Mobile Assistant" from the Google Play store. It is free and offers many more hands free features than the Motorola Assist app. In fact it works so well I don't know if I would even want to use Assist again. Dragon Mobile Assistant actually allows you to reply hands free to text messages that come in without touching your phone or Bluetooth car kit. Assist won't even allow you to do that. Dragon Mobile Assistant also has a always on feature so you can speak commands without touching your phone. This might be a good work around for everyone until Motorola fixes the problems.

Update - if you have a problem and have already searched forums, don't bother to call customer support. The first two levels merely give you the equivalent of "are you sure your computer is plugged in?" and "you should reboot - I'm sure that will fix it". Except getting that sage advice takes FOREVER.

Anyway, for the Motorola Assist problem I encountered, I figured out that for reading texts, my problem is a conflict with Handcent. Once I uninstalled it, I basically got Assist to work.

Thanks. I guess I will try to call Motorola tomorrow

Had this same problem. I didn't uninstall Handcent, I just made it not the Default Messaging app within Handcent settings. Moto Assist now reads my texts while driving and I can still use Handcent.

My phone automatically starts playing music while I drive. I hadn't noticed before because usually I connect my phone via AUX cable to play music but today I forgot to do that and it surprised the hell out of me when it started playing music in my jacket while I drove off. I then tested it and connected via AUX cable without starting Google play, sure enough after the phone sensed I was driving, my play list started blaring out of my speakers...it was kind of cool...

Although if I'm a passenger I guess that would not be a good thing lol...

Posted via my awesome, longer lasting phone than yours aka droid MAXX

There's a setting under the driving assist menu that has automatically resume music when it detects driving. Uncheck the box and this will stop you issue. I had the same problem happen last week and scared the crap out of me too.
