Motorola Cliq Must be Overclocked

I have watched some of the hands-on videos of the Motorola Cliq, and I can't help but wonder if Motorola deliberately over clocked the devices. In the demos there is no lag whatsoever, whether pressing the back key or home key. Everything seems instant, despite many many widgets being on the Home screen.

The Cliq uses the same exact 528 Mhz processor as the G1 and I believe it has the same onboard memory.

In contrast, my G1 lags alot. When playing Pandora, the device basically slows down to molasses-like speeds. Google voice makes it even worse.

I have had to install Taskiller in order to constantly free up memory. I have 13MB of on board memory available, which should be more than enough,

I found my phone slowing when I had lots of apps installed. A lot of them I never used anyway so got rid.

Also - phones, like PCs, seem to always work fastest when new and start slowing after use with lots of apps being installed and uninstalled. A wipe and reset might help.

I wouldn't assume that it would run the same just because the processor is the same. The CLIQ has a third more memory. We also don't know if the memory is the same speed and design as it is on the G1. There are a lot of variables that you can't account for that would affect speed.

However, we only have one more week to find out if the CLIQ is really faster or if it's a trade show anomaly.

The new Moto Droid will be hitting later this month. Check out Boy Genius Report for the info (I don't have enough posts to link to it).

Hi guys. I'm new here. Cuurently a BB8900 owner. Got rid of my G1 as soon as the 8900 hit the stores. My wife and son both have G1s so I get to play around on Android all the time.

My friend is a Tmo manager and whenever he gets new phones ( before they hit the shelves) he lets me play around with them.

He brought the Cliq over to me last week and let me have it for 24 hrs. I will have to say that it was quicker than the G1 in ever way. No lagging at all and when using Google maps, the rendering was much faster.

Loved the fit and finish of this phone. Took some pictures and they're much better than myTough or G1 and there are more features for photo mode.

My only concern is battery life. It seemed to die out quicker than the 2 G1s we have at home. I gave the phone back to my friend and he let someone else use it and they said the same thing. One of the reps told my friend that they are aware of this and its something they're looking into.

I really miss Android and 3g speeds (my BB8900 is only edge and wifi) and will most likely get the Cliq, myTouch or even possible the behold 2 (after I play around with it). I know Tmo is coming out with the BB9700 (3G and wifi) but they charge for 95% of their apps.

I'm really hoping that the push email on the cliq works almost as good as my berry, if so, thas my next phone.

The cliq push email works awesome, you can set it to receive as they come in so I get mine faster than in my gmail inbox.
