According to the website The Verge, Verizon is discontinuing all of their 4G hotspots as well as the DROID 3 and the LG Revoultion.

Here is the link:

Droid 3, LG Revolution, and all of Verizon's 4G Hotspots rumored to be discontinued in January | The Verge

If this is true, since this is all rumor at this time, then this makes everything a little more complex because the Droid 4 is around the corner, and the D3 just was released in July! This is madness! I have a Droid Incredible and the DInc 2 is still out, although it seems to be on life support. I am curious, how has everyone on these forums enjoyed their Droid 3 phones?

Yes, I love the Droid 3 - it's a great 3G Android phone.

EOL means nothing - unless you want to buy another D3. For example, the DX and the D2 received GB updates well after they stopped being sold.

Obviously, it seems that VZW is making a big push for LTE phones. They probably think it's a big marketing advantage, though those of us who have had them and struggled with data outages and random data drops may think otherwise. I can understand Verizon not wanting two Motorola Droid keyboard phones at the same time - that does seem confusing.

Also, the Verge's report remains a rumor. I believe that they also reported that the D4 was being sold starting December 8. Then December 22. It may be very true (this time), but I try not to get too bothered by reported rumors.

True. But this brings to light something else. We all know that once your phone is new, it's almost obsolete from the day you use it.

AAAARGH! The sum total basis of my self-image as a cutting-edge phone user is threatened!

Or not. The only videos I watch are medical and Ashley Esqueda's here (because of the news of course, lol!) I'd rather have a world phone with a killer keyboard, if it is a choice between battery-hogging LTE, excessive screen size, and useful features.

Now if the Droid4 has LTE and a stronger battery, along with world phone and awesome keyboard though, then I think it should replace the Droid3, and will rock! But for me, leave the 4+" wannabe tablets in someone else's pocket....
