Android Central Question

Motorola G5s Plus android Oreo has WiFi Direct and Cast function
Samsung Smart TV has WiFi Direct

I switch both to WiDFi Direct - the cellphone is recognize and connects to the TV bt nothing more - cannot mirror contents to the TV

I can use the Smartview app on the mobile to display media on the TV screen but not to mirror it

Why is this? Is it not that two devices on WiFi Direct must automatically be compatible and handshake withut problem?

That does the smartview app add that allows throwing the images and videos to the Samsung screen

(P.S. - my Windows 10 laptop has no problem throwing images and videos to the TV screen and project wirelessly to it )

Thanks for any help on this. I would like o enlighten myself and buy technically correct stuff next time be it a mobile or TV

Re: Motorola G5s Plus does not connect with Samsung Smart TV - wish to understand why?

I believe that Samsung may only allow screen mirroring with another Samsung.

Welcome to Android Central! You probably know this already, but the most reliable way to mirror your screen to any TV will be a Chromecast.
