i just got a moto maxx hd. trying to access files to transfer to my MAC and downloaded Android File Transfer. I hook up the USB and pick the Media Device (MTP) option on the phone but when i open up the android file transfer application a pop up says - "No Divice found. Please connect your Android device with a USB cable to get started."

not sure what is up. any advice?

Not sure how Mac's would do this, but on a PC you plug the phone into the computer via the USB cable. Then using the file manager navigate to the Motorola Maxx HD (shows up on a PC as drive G: , for example.) You should see a file named Motorola Device Manager. This is an installation file that will install drivers so you can access the phone's SD card.Click on this file and install the Motorola device manager software. Once installed you should be able to access your SD card. One more thing--Motorola has a default setting so that whenever you open this software your computer goes to Verizon's backup assistant web page. Annoying, but can be shut off--"When Device Connects"....Uncheck "Launch Backup Assistant Plus" and checkmark "Do Nothing"
