Motorola Moto Z Droid

My wife recently purchased the above phone and downloaded the Android App to her phone. She has plugged the USB cable in to head and followed the instructions to sync system. After numerous tries it seems that the Android App on the vehicle system will not activate. The car she owns is a 2017 Hyundai Sonata. What are we doing wrong?

She needs to get BT connection established. And then tap the Android Auto app logo on the car screen and things should be straightforward from there on out. I used Android Auto on this exact car in Puerto Rico last week with my Galaxy S8 without any issues. Good luck.
