I'm trying to mount my phone as a disk drive and grab the pictures off of it, but when I go into the pictures folder via windows explorer, I don't see anything in it. Do I need to move the pictures somewhere first on the phone, so that windows can see it?

Here is what you need to do to transfer files.

1.) Mount the phone as a drive. Once you plug it into the computer, it should prompt you on the phone or at least give you a USB notification. Open that notification and select mount as drive

2.) Explore the files. And as others have said above, they should be in the DCIM. A good file explorer for your device that I like is called Astro. You can browse on your device prior to the comp to ensure which folder its in
