move pics to gallery

The thread title says it all. I want to make some backup pictures wallpaper, but it seems that unless they are in my gallery, they aren't eligible (so to speak)

How do I move them to the gallery? I thought I could just plug the phone in, and drag and drop, but apparently not.

Wallpaper is a hidden (to media apps) file. Use Wallpaper Wizardrii to save your current wallpaper as a file. (It's free, and if you play with wallpaper, you'll probably find it handy.)

(There's no "gallery" to move anything to - Gallery is just an app. It displays all non-hidden pictures and videos in the device and any external storage.)

Seriously, I have to use a third party app just to change wallpaper using a picture in Google photos?
