My car's audio device is an aftermarket JVC. Has USB input. Is there not app add on or fix to charging and playing music from the S6 via USB?

Have you tried playing any audio? Maybe usb-audio only works with iPhone. Try playing "Over the Horizon" from the Samsung Music Player while it is plugged into the car, if there is no sound maybe the phone just doesnt work with it. I know there are supposed to be apps that allow android devices to work with volume keys on headsets that are made for the iPhone, maybe there is something similar for this?

Hi - thanks for the response. I plug in the phone via USB. Menu on audio is AUX... It reads USB... then says no file. Will not play any audio from the phone via USB connection. As an audiophile this could be a deal breaker

Android phones generally can't be accessed via car USB, sorry.

I don't know if it's a result of Apple trying to corner the automotive media market or not, but gone down south is correct. Most car radios are 'iPod friendly' and support playing music from iPods (and iPhones & iPads). The majority of car radios don't allow playing music from other devices.

My factory Hyundai radio is like this.. My iPad plays no problem and I can use a USB stick. But, like your JVC it will not recognize my Galaxy Note 4.

What I did to be able to hear my library in the car was to copy the music that I have on my Note 4 over to a USB stick.

The issue lies with lollipop. They changed the way they handle USB from UMS (USB Mass Storage) to MTP (Media Transfer Protocol). Basically, the only way to connect your phone to your car via USB, and have the ability to skip songs, and view song information in your car is to root your phone. You can then download an app in Google Play to choose how your phone handles USB connections. By picking UMS, this should then allow you to use your car in the same way as an iPhone doeswhen connected via USB.
