movies to store off line

i have some mp4 movies that i want on my new nexus7 just wondering if anyone knows what encoding settings as far as size and a program to use so it will play full screen.

I have the exact same question. I record shows using EyeTV on my Mac and I'd like to optimize the setting for my N7.

If your goal is to fit to screen then it really does not matter. I have tried mp4 video at 1280x720, 1920x1080, 720x478, and 720x368 and they are all scaled to fit the screen horizontally with the default video player. MX player will give you options re: zooming. Video from HDTV by default is either 1920x1080 or 1280x720 and the N7 is 1280x800 as you probably know. If I were you I would try using the mp4 video that you already have. You may like it just the way it is. Handbrake is a free program that works pretty well to covert video to mp4 with various bitrates.
