I've been using my 6p on AT&T since I got it in late January, but I'll be switching to Verizon within the next few months. I know it will work on the Verizon network but I've I haven't been able to find a concrete answer on whether or not Verizon will activate a new line with a phone they don't sell. Will they just give me a Verizon nano sim and let me plug it in or is it gonna be more complicated than that?

Use project Fi if you have a unlocked phone. Best decision I have ever made.

I switched from AT&T to VZW. I never activated on AT&T, I got my new 6p, went online, plugged my IMEI into VZW's compatibility checker, printed that out and took it with me, didn't even need it. Easy peasy.

Project Fi doesn't compare to VZW in terms of speed or coverage.

They'll pop in a nano sim and add it to their network. It's that simple. My 6P arrived yesterday and I went to the local VZW store and it was a simple process. I had my case and screen protector with me and they put that all one. Then they wanted to play with it, they had not seen one in flesh.

I'm on Verizon, just went to the store and they put in a SIM and activated it.

I just ported over to Verizon prepaid from my T-Mobile prepaid last weekend. Since I am close to one of their stores I just stopped by but they basically installed a new SIM and signed me up. It was plug and play as far as I could tell. I had tried one of the Verizon MVNO's earlier and it was also plug and play.

Or if you have a phone on Verizon already just transfer the nano sim over to the 6p and you should be good to go. It's really not a problem.

Posted via my Nexus 6P on VerLIEzon Wireless but without their shackles.

I have had Fi for 3 months and have never dropped a call and have just as fast speeds as when I was on Verizon. Best thing, my bill went from $170 a month for 2 lines to $60 for 2 lines on Fi

Did this yesterday.Since you already have setup your phone, it's a piece of cake. They couldn't transfer all my contacts and no pictures. With that said, they where great, just poped the new sim in.Now maybe you can help me-the rookie. How do I create a music folder and transfer pc music directly to that folder on the 6p.Recommend any music player to use thats EASY?that's Jeff

So when the Nexus 6 came out I purchased it but Verizon was not able to activate the SIM on that phone because they said the IMEI number was not in their system so they were not able to activate it. I had to go through a loophole but it does work. You would just go to Best Buy (since there are no restocking fees) Purchase a Verizon phone with the Nano SIM (i.e iPhone) activate that phone and just put that SIM card in your 6P & return the phone back to Best Buy.
Hope it helps

I took the SIM out of my V10 and inserted into my 6P. Worked fine. No issues at all.

When I was getting the Nexus 6P I was on Verizon. I thought that I'd try it on Verizon first, just for fun. So I called Verizon and told them I was getting a new phone, and to please mail me a nano SIM for it. They asked what phone it was, and were fine with the fact that it was a Nexus 6P, in fact a little jealousy came through *smile*. Anyways, got the SIM in a few days, but in the meantime decided to go with Project Fi instead of screwing with the new phone on Verizon. Project Fi is working great for me, very happy I switched.

No plans to go back to Verizon *smile*.

Just put my Verizon sim into my Nexus 6p, I think it works. I was wondering though, My verizon ( I use to watch data) If it still has my droid turbo as the phone should I contact verizon to tell them that I have 6p now on that line instead of the turbo or just contact them to reassure them that I swap my sim to another phone?

Your account should update automatically to show the actual phone being used. Even if it doesn't change, I cannot think of any reason why it would matter. I've switched phones several times by simply putting my SIM card in another phone, and My Verizon has always updated to the actual device, usually almost instantly.

It changes automatically but does not refer to it as Nexus 6p

If you havent already figured it out. Visual voice mail and WiFi calling is not supported when using it in Verizon

Yes, it doesn't say specifically that it is the Nexus 6P. It does, however, refer to it as HUAWEI - H1511, which is the model number for the 6P. Here is a screenshot from my Verizon account online:

Absolutely correct with the compatibility checker. Also correct concerning Project Fi, though I must say that they have greatly improved since then and continue to be the only other viable option for anyone with a Nexus 6, 5x, or 6P.
