My boss offered to move my phone number to the corporate account and upgrade me to a thunderbolt. Tomorrow I need to call verizon about this but our question is in regard to the early termination fee. My contract expires in December. As my number is just going to a different account and not actually getting canceled will they still want to charge me some amount of ETF? My guess is they will waive it as I am guessing we will have to renew or corporate contact for most if not all of our lines.

NO, as long as the number is still in service, they should just transfer your number over to another account. The current contract will follow unless your company decides to upgrade your phone number for a new device.

Called last night and actually got a helpful girl on the line. After sorting out why i could not pay my bill on the phone she looked over my account and gave me some good tips.

As my phone is up for an early upgrade do that now to get the thunderbolt. After the upgrade is done then do an "Assumption of Liability" with the corporate account. This will move my line onto the company's contract. There is no ETF free as the line stay on verizon and I am not actually canceling the line.

Keep in mind you are also likely losing any access to personal insurance. My company pays for mine the same way, but if something happens to my phone I get a blackberry from my company as an insurance replacement. :( You basically give up any ability to manage your account (likely), which to some may not matter.

Once you do this your number will belong to your employer. They may not want to give it back if you leave the company. They will also be able to view your call log. Just somethings you should take into consideration before you make the switch.
