Moving photos to albums but they're still showing In main pictures

So i got the new s9+ I put all my old photos on from my old phone (8000) now they are all in a funny order so I tried moving them all into folders so the main picture bit in my gallery is empty for all my new photos when I put them into albums it said move so I expected them to be gone from my gallery is there a way to do this? Thanks

Gallery shows all pictures listed in the Media Scan database. Media Scan scans the entire phone when it starts (or when you do a media-related thing, like taking a picture). So Gallery shows all the pictures on the phone. Show the pictures in one picture app but not another picture app? No, that all use the same database. (If all you've done so far is copy them and move them around, either restart the phone or run an app like media.Re.Scan, to rebuild the database so it shows the current state of things.)

Hi thank you, I'm using the stock one I'm new to samsung so not quite sure about it all as yet, I want my old photos on the phone but not in the main pictures as they are all jumbled no idea if there's a way for that

Open the gallery app and tap on the Albums tab and it will sort the pics by folders location

It's ok I'm just backing them all up into google photos then I can delete them out my gallery and they're still on my phone

As long as the photos are backed up to Google Photos, you will still be able to view them in your Google Photos app (the app acts as a viewer for the photos that have been saved to the cloud). This way, you can free up space on the phone by deleting the locally saved copies.
