Moving to an S3 from a Galaxy Nexus - questions for rooting

Hi - I am on an unlimited Verizon plan and do not want to upgrade and loose it. I'm not interested in doing any of the Best Buy or other methods people claim work.

I'm currently using a GNEX but may be able to get a free Galaxy S3.

My question is, can I root this thing and make it run stock android - basically turn it into a slightly beefier Galaxy Nexus? :)

I really don't hate my GNEX. The battery life sucks, and it can do some weird things sometimes, but it is still very functional and works great 98% of the time.

But if I get a S3 it would be an upgrade to me if I could basically make it into a GNEX software wise, with better hardware.

Any help appreciated. I'm sure there is plenty of info here that I can dig around and find, but I'm just looking for a straightforward answer.:D

Thanks. I'm assuming that the extra hardware juice of the S3 should translate to a better experience overall from my GNEX.

Just be sure that you don't get an S3 that already has 4.3 firmware on it - that will limit your options.
