Hey guys, I am moving from a Jailbroken iPhone 5 to and LG G4 soon. I am hoping that with the addition of an android device I will be FAR more active here on the forums. Anyways, there were just some things I was wondering. Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

1) If I do a 2yr. contract with AT&T for $200, does that mean at the end of the 2 years that I can unlock my device?

2) I am into modifying my device. Will there be a root available for the LG G4?*If so, will towelroot do? I enjoy towelroot more than others because of simplicity. Is there a complication with using such a simple tool rather than than more advanced tools?

3) Screwing Up: If I screw up my device, is there a way to restore it no matter what like DFU mode on an iPhone? I know there is the menu with the volume buttons and all but, you know, just wondering.

4) What are some tips to moving to android? I love it far more than iOS, but I also have tom realize that iOS is the place to be apps wise.

5) Is xPosed available for Android L? Just wondering.

Thank you. :)

Welcome to AC.

1) After the 2 yr contract is up you should be able to contact AT&T for an unlock request. There's a bunch of unlock requirements on their site.

2) Towelroot only works on devices with older kernels that haven't patched up the exploit. I'm sure root method will be available for G4. Even the root methods that require a computer are pretty simple.

3) By screwing up do you mean bricking the phone? If so, the G2 and G3 are pretty easy to restore using LG flash tool. Restoring the G4 should be similar process.

4) A few suggestions:

*use Nova Launcher to customize app drawer and home screen.
*MX Player to watch downloaded videos
*PowerAmp to replace LG music player. I also suggest V4A to greatly improve sound quality (requires root).

5) Yes, Xposed is available for Lollipop. Installing Xposed for Lollipop is a bit different and some of the modules haven't been updated to work on Lollipop.

SactoKingsFan is spot on with your questions but welcome to the best side and A/C!

Agreed with SactoKingsFan - unlocking the bootloader is immanent and I'll add that the H815 model of G4 should get the most support from dev community.

Thanks so much dude! Btw, will the LG G4 get the Android M update that the keynote just showed off? Thanks!
I'm sure the G4 will get Android M update. LG has been pretty good with updating their flagships since the G2. However, custom ROMs based on M will probably be available to flash before official update.

Just a few thoughts.

1. Unless AT&T has changed there policy you generally can get them to unlock the phone after six months as long as your account is in good standing. You will still be under contract with AT&T, but then when traveling outside of the USA you can use your phone on a locally carrier. FYI, on Verizon most if not all of their newer LTE phones come SIM unlocked. I have used my phones on several EMEA mobile providers.

I am with AT&T and my business account is in good standing and no, you can't get the unlock code before the contract is up.
Possibly at 22months but that's it.

Yeah, it's not really that I need to switch carriers that badly, I just want the phone to be my own after that. :)

I know what you mean, something about having it unlocked once you're off contract makes you feel free and it increases the value.
You can always get the unlock code by other means though.
