mtp fail

My s4 will not connect through usb. Every time it says mtp fail. I've been trying to figure this out for over a week now. This is my first Android and I am so confused. Please tell me someone has the solution.

probably you already did, but it's worth asking.... did you already install the samsung kies software?, it has all the drivers needed.... probably it will still show you the MTP error, but mine works despite it also showed me that error the very first time
