I have installed some apps that test multi touch functionality and all of them inaccurately, none of them accurately, track each individual finger. Why is that? Is this a general problem with android or the device?

Thanks in advance.

Multitouch Test

The reason I am asking stems from getting some games which used multi touch, to entertain my kids, but they were having trouble with them. Specifically Super KO boxing 2. The reason he even noticed is that I also have an Ipod touch which has the same game after I saw it didnt behave the same. I got these tests.

If I touch on to corners they track well but if the points cross axis there is an issue. I looked at the test immediately because I believe the nexus had the same issue.

ps.

Grabbed Multitouch Test, and yes, my phone does this as well. Would explain some of the issues I've been having with zoom. It is very likely that all Optimus's have this.

I'm flabbergasted that an issue like this could still exist after several years of widespread use of the Android OS. Touchscreen interaction is such a crucial part of the user experience that I wouldn't expect it to even exist in a release build.

It's not a Android thing, some touch panels are just not good. For a free - $50 smart phone I'm not surprised that it isn't perfect. There were bound to be some hardware comprises on a otherwise great phone.

That's... interesting. Definitely seems like it would be a software issue. Disappointing to find out it's not, since it can't be patched in that case.

Yeah, it happens. Even the Nexus One suffered from a bad touch panel.
