I saw a few post mentioning it, but no real fixes yet. Maybe there aren't any. My phone updated yesterday afternoon and all was well for the rest of the day. I powered down last night and started it again when I woke up. Since 6am this morning it has rebooted on its own no less than 8 times. What the ****? I am not rooted, pretty much stock as I am an android newbie. Any input is great. Thanks.

i haven't had reboots to that severity--but i do get at least one random reboot daily since the update last Thursday.

no widely acknowledged fixes as far as i've read on any forums.

some people mentioned they did a battery pull & it fixed their battery life & some reboots, but it's not a tried & true method.

I did the battery pull after reading this, i have been reboot free for 3 days--thank you.

There is a indeed a fix. Do a master reset wipe everything off the phone and reload the OTA update if its still rebooting they will do a warranty replacement on the handset. It seems the OTA damaged some handsets.

If the OTA damaged some devices, would the factory reset even be needed? If it reboots, it's been damaged, right?

Reload the update? If you do a factory reset after installing the ota, there's nothing to reload as you'll still have the OTA.

No in that case the software could be corrupted and by doing a master wipe it clears everything out of the phone and starts all over again like a new phone. Only after doing the master wipe and re loading the OTA will you know if the phone is truly damaged if it starts re booting again. Acording to Verizon some of the rebooting issues are just because the OTA didn't land properly when it was first installed. After doing the wipe and re installing the OTA it should in most cases correct the reboot problem if not they will replace.

Nope acording to them it will also wipe the OTA off as well and put the phone back to factory out of the box condition.

I think they're full of it. Someone on the OTA do a reset and go into about Phone and post the firmware number

This is so weird. I just got my wife a brand new DInc2 and yesterday she told me it randomly reboot itself also. Not the severity that you Thunderbolt users are going through, but I wonder if it's HTC hardware related. Or some type of VZW network issue (not 3G or 4G but just something buggy). I told my wife to keep an eye on her phone to see if it reboots on her. Definitely keep an eye on your Up Time...

Well I thought it might be a Verizon issue also but of course they try and blame it on everything else.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but either way of doing a "master" reset doesn't remove the firmware and bring the phone completely back to stock.

That's what I'm thinking. The Verizon rep is probably just full of it. If you reset from MR1, you'll end up with a clean MR1. Isn't really gonna fix anything if there was a corruption in the system files during the update without reverting back to the factory firmware which requires a little more work than a simple factory reset.

A factory reset didn't fix my reboots. I'm convinced it is network/tower related. I'm not exchanging.

I have had non stop problems since the update with both my phone and my wifes. The reboots are insane, and the battery life completely blows as well.

I had VZW send us new phones that don't have the OTA update applied, and BOTH of the phones they sent have the same problem with the screen. The right side of the screen sticks up NOTICEABLY above the bezel (not slightly recessed like our phones are now). If you push down hard on it, then it sticks down where it should for a few minutes, but within 10 minutes it's back sticking up again. Oh yeah, and on one of them, the black plastic piece just below the screen popped off inside the box before it even got to us.

Certified like new my ass. In on the verge of paying my ETF and switch carriers. VZW doesn't give a **** how much of my time I have to invest in trying to make these expensive phones work.
