multple text messages

Hi all, still messing around with my new EVO...
Been downloading a few apps recently, and i have to say i really like the handcent (for txting). My question is, how do i prevent my fon from receiving multiple responses from someone texting me? What i mean is that this morning while txting with my daughter, i received her response three times: one with what i always receive it with before downloading handcent, one with handcent, and finally one on the Favorites column. I would like to just receive my text messages on the handcent. Thx in advance...

I don't believe you can bypass it. Except for maybe segregation a Google voice # for some people and having them only text that number. And then using handcent for the others.

you can turn of notifications in the settings so that you dont get them from the default app and only handcent

thx! the real irritating part is hearing the notification tone three times.
