Music and Video apps?

I'm new to android and was wondering if everyone uses the stock media players or is it better to go with a 3rd party app. Suggestions?

I love the stock player for Music & Videos and you get pop up play.

I only use MX Player is great and only use it on my hTc One because the stock blows and it's out of sync.
