Music Being Interrupted by Notifications

Hi quick question. On the HTC android devices when you are listening to music and a SMS or email notification is played the device mutes the audio and plays the alert. Even if you put the device on "silent" or "vibrate" it still mutes the audio for the alert. I know that the Samsung moment doesn't do this, so i assume its something that HTC has enabled. Does anyone know how to disable this? Is it possible?

Thanks.

same thing here... It is pretty annoying...

When I use my phone at work, it plays through my entire department and its pretty annoying when I get a phone call I hear my custom ringer playing through 2 big klipsch F-3's....

I have noticed that if you're listening to something over the speaker on the phone it doesn't do it. Only on headphones or A2DP...

Any leads on how it could be fixed? Looks like the Moto Droid does this as well. Maybe its a problem with android itself?

Possible fix

Open messaging
Go to settings (menu button)
Under notification settings, select ringtone and make it SILENT

I selected vibrate to make sure I knew when a notification came through though. I am using Android 2.0 (Moto DROID) and I don't think it makes a difference but I have the Rings Extended App installed. I say that just in case doing this without the app installed does not work for you, that might be the quirky reason why.

You would also have to do this for all the GMAIL app i found out because it will interrupt your music.

My hunch is that when you put the phone's ringer volume on vibrate or silent, the music/ringtone that plays for your notification still plays when they come through only it inaudible since you put it on silent. Therefore the "silent interruption" you get while listening to your music is your ringtone playing...but you can't actually hear it.

HTC folks, please post and let everyone know if this works on your phone so other's know since I'm using moto DROID.

So is this an issue when using the downloaded music or are you using an internet radio something like Pandora?
