Music Controls

ok so my job got me the sensation and the first thing i wanted to do is root but because of 1.27 hboot i cant right now....but i wanted to know is there a way to change music tracks while screen is locked.... my evo is rooted and has the music controls on the lockscreen or i just hold the vol + and it changes..... THANKS IN ADVANCE
