Welcome to every single mobile device ;) I have never owned one that had any bass. Your talking with external speaker or headphones?

Headphones.. not like this, when I had CM7 on my shift... bass was more than adequate

The Nexus S / Galaxy S phones are actually held in extremely high esteem with regards to sound quality due to the Wolfson DAC inside. With the proper adjustments, most people seem to prefer them over iPhones/iPods and 90% of mainstream DAPs. The problem, though, is that Samsung's drivers do not take full advantage of the Wolfson they decided to use (which seems completely counterintuitive to what they were trying to accomplish by going with a better DAC). The solution is to use Supercurio's voodoo hacks, which allow the Nexus' full sound quality to be heard. You'll need to root, flash a kernel with the voodoo enhancements (such as Netarchy), and install the voodoo control app. After that you'll probably want to purchase Poweramp or any other music app with an EQ. After that you should be golden (assuming you're using decent headphones).

Agree.

But if you don't want to root, then get Equalizer (Smart Android Apps, LLC) free from the market. It integrates with the stock android player and offers music presets, bass boost and a manual equalizer for you to tweak sound to your liking.
