Music Player App Intermitantly Stops Playing

I've been having an issue with the stock Music Player app. I'll use it in the car, but from time to time it will stop playing in the middle of a song. The phone is mounted to the windshield, so there's nothing to interfere with the screen and it's plugged in and charging usually, but not always.

Is anyone else experiencing this or have any ideas on how to fix it? I've already tried clearing the cache.

Sorry for posting in this section, but I have the same problem on a HTC One X.

I use factory headphones and after 5-30 minutes of playing the music stops. Then I just press the play button again and it seems then to play without further issues.

I didn't try to hard reset the device yet.

Hope it could be related to some application installed but honestly I have no clue.

is it anything to do with getting a notification?
know this isnt a fix sorry but most pre-installed apps are crap IMO. try playing with some 3rd party alternatives
