Music Player Buttons

Hey guys,

I jumped the blackberry ship to join the android ship and am loving it so far. However I have one gripe, and that's the music player controls. On the blackberry you could pause/play with the top button, raise/lower volume with the side buttons and change tracks by holding them down. I miss that very much, because I like using my phone as an mp3/ipod replacement! Is there an app that can customize the buttons so I can control my music without taking my phone out of my pocket?

Do I have to root my phone to do that? I don't want to root my phone if possible because I don't want to void my warranty. I downloaded the winamp and doubletwist players for easy syncing between itunes/winamp but winamp keeps crashing on me so I'm mainly using doubletwist to play music. However it only seems to have headphone control support which my headset lacks.

Thanks :p

I was also a blackberry user up until a year ago. I still try to change tracks holding the volume button and end up turning it up really loud really fast. I've tried a bunch of music apps out there but haven't found anything that gives that same functionality. My guess is it is something android doesn't provide API access to. I prefer poweramp, but it costs money and still wont give you the exact features you're looking for. I like it because it has equalizer controls. In your case, though, replacing your headphones with some that have manual control built in will probably be the easiest transition.

Every once in a while I run into a feature that I miss from blackberry's, but the good of android and this phone far outweigh the bad :)

Thanks!

I'll look into android compatible remote ear buds! Anybody know of any/have any suggestions?:-$

I don't think there's a specific type or brand you need to get. Im pretty sure they all generally follow the same standards. I would bet any that work with an ipod would work.

I was searching through skull candy forums and it was extremely random, some worked some didn't some only changed volume, some only mic worked etc etc haha And the skull candy forum moderators' responses were always along the lines of "We specifically said they are made for ipod ____ so it may or may not work."

hey, same here missing a lot the BB outside controls for the Rew and FF, I got me a pair of Sony earbud with t remote for "Android" I can pause. take calls and at least jump up a song but cant rewind :-X also I use PowerAmp t best player, I just wish i cant Rew and FF like my good old BB

I will keep looking for headsets, wondering if the Android OS can change that function like once happened with a BB OS that dropped that ability to use t volume keys to for Rw and FF and then gained t function in next OS update

This is something you can do using UnNamed rom. The volume rocker works for switching tracks, but there's still no pause button.
