Maybe to cut down on the double apps ie play music . You can download the Samsung music app from the galaxy app store

If you don't want to use Google Play Music, I understand since I don't care for it either. There are a plethora of music players in the Play Store. I recommend Shuttle.

I freaked out about this because I hate using Google play. Thank good you can get it from Galaxy Apps Store. Same for S Note.

I've been trying to figure out why I need s note and Samsung notes. I had s notes on my S7 but they transferred over to Samsung Notes.

I thought i was losing my mind. I looked everywhere and couldn't find the music player. I know there are plenty in the app store i wish i had known there wasn't one installed from the beginning. I watched so many reviews for this phone and not one said anything about the missing music player.

It isn't missing, there just isn't a second music app besides Google Play Music

Samsung put it in the play store. Search and download bam you got the music app.
