Music Squares? How is it?

Has anyone played with Music Squares much yet? Really intrigued by that, i use my phone as my media player and am wondering how well this works to create playlists? I've always wished Google had a Genius playlist creator like my iPod, so it could blend a decent (genius isn't THAT great, but good enough to find like minded songs) playlist for me based off a feeder song.

So what is the verdict on Music Squares? And does anyone know of a playlist generator on Android that can do something like Genius on an Apple device? I've got a TON of music I bring with me on the go, and just doing "shuffle all" can make some stupid mixes (Nine Inch Nails -> Pet Shop Boys -> The Kills -> Prince is a bit jarring).

I tried it and not happy with it. I dunno how it works really but the play list is a huge mess of songs that are very different from each other. Personally I still think itunes genius is better.

My music library is mostly itunes files which is apparently incompatible with music square. Also the music genres are all off.

Have you used Google Music? Its Android integration is stellar, and it allows for an "instant playlist." Pick a song, and it picks 24 more songs that are "like it" from your collection. The upload process takes days, which hurts. My 16,835 track collection took about a week and a half with only about a half day not uploading at Max speed. Once its done, though, its totally worth it.

Is that available internationally or just in the US? Haven't tried it but would want to.

So then you have to do the upload to use Google's playlist generator, you can't just do it from your device? "Play Music" can't do it on it's own?

I used music squares to pick songs based on a "mood"... and it seemed to do a good job of choosing between the various tempos of the songs.

Comshock25: I believe Google Music is US only right now, actually. Sorry :-(

jj2339: I'm not 100% sure, actually. I uploaded all my music before I even tried using it. I know I can make an instant play list on my phone, but I'm pretty sure it pulls from the complete pool of your uploaded collection. Meaning, if it's on your phone but not on your Google Play Music, it's ignored. However, what I do, is I made a few play lists and have them "sync for offline play." You can also make an instant mix play list and have that one save to your phone for offline play, too. So the MP3s will be synced to your phone, so you don't have to be online to stream them. For instance, I have a playlist called "new albums" which is just a list of all the newest albums I've downloaded, and when I add or remove songs from that play list, the phone will download or remove them on it's own.

Google Play Music is cool, and totally worth playing around with if you can.

I dont get the music square it says 25 music files needed what does that mean and how are you supposed tobupdate your libary

I just tried it while playing with my new phone. Setup was easy and automatic. I had about 1000 songs in the library. I selected a setting and it pulled ab out 25-75 songs in each category and plays randomly through them. Pretty nice to have ambient music when I sit and read my Bible and then loud music when I work in the yard and stuff.:)
