music stops when signal drops?

I've noticed that when I'm on the subway listening to music and my signal drops the music cuts out for a second. it does this also when the signal has been re-established as well. I've tried multiple media players, played with any settings I could think of but I'm very new to Android so I'm sure I'm missing something. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Just chiming in that I have the same issue. I've started putting my phone in airplane mode when I go into the subway.
