I am soon to be a new droid owner waiting for it only one more day hopefully! Anyway was wondering what case and apps are must haves? I have heard about some cases scratching the phone because of the slider is this true?

x2 for Seidio cases. i currently have the seidio droid case w/ holster. good quality stuff. you can usually find the case/holster combos for cheaper than retail on ebay.

my top apps:

GTalk
Seesmic (twitter)
eBuddy (free multi-protocol IM app, aim, msn, yahoo, facebook, etc.)
TFLN (texts from last night browser, hilarious)
Shazam
FourSquare
Astro File Manager
AK Notepad (good free notepad app)
Barcode Scanner
Robo Defense (great tower defense game)
Rom Manager (for rooted phones, makes upgrading new released roms easy)

I'll have to check the notepad out. Been looking for one and sometimes Evernote is just too much.

It's simple, not too many frills. i just wanted something to jot down notes.

also, i just followed you on twitter. thought you might like to know. lol

ok this is going to be a dumb question but whats rooting and what are roms? im coming from a blackberry(all ive used for 3 years) so this is all gibberish to me.

Oh my I just recieved my Seidio today. Navy blue Innocase with the holster for 50$ on their websitea dn I am more than happy I decided on this case. It fits so well and I love the holster because as an employee at Best Buy I like to show it off ;) lol

Sena Leather Pouch. So nice..!
Think there's FAQ that answers it but I'll give you an overview.

Rooting is what gives you full access to your phone. Will allow you to virtually change/do anything.
Root also allows you to run custom ROM's.
ROM's are basically like a different operating system.
Think like Windows XP and Windows 7/Vista. All the same basic things, but differences/improvements.
A ROM can add a custom theme to your phone. Changing the green accents to blue and so on.
It can add special settings to you phone that you wouldn't normally have. It can also change your phone completely. Shoot, you could even add SenseUI, another operating system, the 'Mac OSX' of android (comparing).
Plenty of options are opened up with rooting and custom ROMs.

Anyway was wondering what case and apps are must haves?
Depends on who you talk to. I'm not a case person, for example. As for apps, there are plenty of existing threads with app suggestions. Are you looking for any particular types of apps or just collecting suggestions all across the board?

Seidio scratched up the wife and my droids... Went to Otterbox and will never look back!!
Not much bulk and UBER protection!!
