Muted calls?

[AC Question]

I own a Note 3 with 4.4.2 update. When I make or receive calls, I can't hear anything (dialing or caller voice) although the person on the other end can hear me perfectly. When I make a skype call w/o headphones, it seems to be fine? I can hear the person (in calls) only if I use headphones or put them on speakers (I've cleaned my mic and played with voice settings; my mic works fine). Its as if my side is completely muted (muted button not on). How do I fix this?

Welcome to Android Central! Do Skype calls actually play through the earpiece speaker, or do they go through the main speaker (i.e., the speaker where media sounds are played)? If the latter, then it's likely that your earpiece speaker is faulty.
