My #1 issue: Inadvertently pressing the sidebar

What do you guys think? My worse fear is I'll be accidently pressing buttons all the time (on the side screen). The couple of review vids don't address much of it.

Also, I'm wondering if I'll miss the main icons on the bottom... Contacts, internet, phone etc.

Thoughts?

My main issue would be how this would shatter the minute you drop your phone for the first time and it lands on that side.

Yep, that's a great point too. I don't want to be the buzz kill here, but it's looking like the negatives might outweigh the "cool factor".

I've played with the phone a few times at Best Buy and recently at an AT&T store, and I did not launch any apps from the edge display while playing with the phone. If you’re worried how to handle the phone or worried about dropping it, then you should not get the phone. There are a lot of phones to chose from so just get something else.

exactly, this is an unusual expensive phone and not for everyone. and again, the less of you guys own it, the more unique it will be when we whip it out in public. Get the Note 4.

Rewind the clock by about eight years and I bet that you heard the same concerns when the first iPhone was announced.

I should not have used the word "issue"...it's just a concern, but I do dig the phone. I am still planning on getting it on Friday. Just wanted to know if anyone has noticed it to be a concern.

I don't know, I think this phone can go either way actually. It can end up being a big hit or a huge flop. One thing for certain is that this first one here is their "test the waters" device. So if this thing really does take off then I will look to get the 2nd, more improved edition once it drops.

They are only making one million to be sold worldwide, so all they have to do is sell what they made to meet their goal.

If they sell a million they will make more. It's a phone, not a bar of gold.

Where did Samsung say they will make more? Please post a link.

I've played with this phone so many times the folks at the att stores want to hire me and it a amazing device but it's not for everyone if you have doubts about getting it then it's not for you the note 4 is basically the same phone and $100 cheaper

Samsung addresses this same issue and there are some reviews on you tube where this is tested and my worry about inadvertently pressing a button has gone away. it senses the difference between an inadvertent press verse and intentional one.

Otter Box COMMUTER. Solves the accidental press problem.

The metal band on the curved side sticks out just enough to hold onto. I was worried about activating the side as well but so far I have not had an issue with this. That plus what tech_fan said...

In a lot of Edge threads, I keep hearing "save $100 and buy the Note 4". If you're talking about a $100 phone, then an additional $100 is significant. When you're talking about the difference between $750 and $850, it's not so much of a difference. I've only had my Edge for about a week but so far, I think it's well worth the "extra" 100 bucks.

It's even less of a difference when you're using the Next plan (payments). Oh and Yah, I also think it's totally worth the difference. I really like this phone when I seen it but this time around was a little more concerned about it because of its unique feature (whether I'd really like it and would it be useful). I've had the phone for about 3 1/2 days and I am totally blown away by it. There is nothing I don't love about it. Fantastic device.

I refuse to hide the beauty of this beast with a case. I can say that because I never drop or otherwise abuse my phone (really)

I feel the same and refuse to put phone in a big bulky case. I found a nice form-fitting case for the phone that offers some protection and better feeling grip, then the phone without a case. I'm also very careful with my phone.
