my 5G has disappeared

Hi there,

A few months back I started seeing 5G on my V60. It was intermittent but I expected it would get better over time and it did seem like I was seeing it more often as time progressed. Nothing super impressive but I was hopeful. Now, it's just plain gone. I never see the 5G notification anywhere and when I look at the phone settings it says 4G and nothing more, like no choices of 2, 3 or 5G just 4G.

I didn't do anything manually to begin seeing 5G nor did I do anything for it to disappear. I'm thinking maybe an update did this? Anyone know how to get it back? Thank you.

Deb

I'm sorry, Verizon. No, I haven't yet. I've been Googling and nothing I find/try works. All the instructions don't match up with what I'm supposed to find on my phone when they tell me where to go.

Sorry, that probably has to do with the forum software's annoying habit of altering certain links.

Try this one: www.verizon.com/coverage-map/. If the link doesn't work, try typing it directly into your URL bar.

Just to be sure, is your area supposed to have solid 5G coverage?

I went to the VZW map and according to that I am supposed to have 5G Nationwide but not 5G ultra wideband. But I am somewhat near the edge butting up to 4G. I'm guessing 1/2mi in 3 directions and many miles in one direction.

Contacting Verizon directly would be your best bet, as they have the info on what is going I with your servicing towers (I.e. Maybe that 5G one was pulled offline for something).

But in either case, their nationwide 5G isn't anything more than re-branded 4G LTE from our perspective. Speeds and such are about the same between the two services, so it's not like you're missing anything special.

Verizon released the mm wave ultra wide band first and that has an extremely short distance and was only in "some" major metropolitan areas.
They did the opposite of Tmobile. Tmo released 600 and 700mhz spectrum of 5g which has much farther reaching (distance wise) but has less bandwidth.
So for me on TMO i get 5g all the time and the speeds are similar to 4G. But it has more capabilities to handle more users so when it gets crowded i can still have good speeds. Then when im near down town my phone will find higher frequencies 2.5ghz and above that has super fast speeds.. ive tested about 200-300 down in a few spots..
So my guess is you are still outside of coverage for Verizons 5G since they focused on the other stuff first.
the other responses are correct, go to a verizon store or call them. Its their network.
Settings-Network and Internet-Mobile Networks - Network Mode That is how i can enable or disable 5G on my V60.
