My android auto updates even with auto update unselected.

I have a HTC One SV, and this month for the first time I went over my data limit - even though I was out of service for a week!

Investigated, and my phone had started auto-updating apps via mobile data even though I had set it to 'Update over Wi-Fi only'.

I've completely disabled auto-update, and my phone is still auto-updated apps.

How do I stop this?

hmm.... that looks weird to me ! I don't think it should update if you have selected the "Update over Wi-Fi" only. Well do one thing try doing a soft factory reset !! I am sure if the problem is over some settings soft reset will be able to fix it for you !.
