My battery went through the wash... but still works!!

My question is, could there be any potential problem with me using this battery?

I really don't want some crazy chemical (mercury? lithium?) to start leaking out of the battery and mess up my phone

I dunno but uhm, how exactly did just your battery go through the washer without your phone?

it's possible that the wash cycle weakened the battery casing and could leak chemicals and/or combust and damage your phone. personally, i'd probably buy another OEM battery.

yes.

To the person who asked how this could happen without being in the phone, I (used to) carry a spare battery. The evo's battery life (especially now that I'm not running a custom ROM) doesn't work out for me.

After thinking about it I don't think I would trust it to much at stake.

If it still works I'd let it charge for a while and watch the battery temperature carefully (as well as leave the case off the back). If it survives a full charging, you're okay.

That said, since it went through the /dryer/, I'd be more afraid. Heat does not treat batteries well.

I think i as foolish and bought a 1750 seidio battery, I guess this time i will go with the cheap chinese one.
