My bottom buttons (home,return "windows") no longer respond on my maxx

I have DROID MAXX 4.4.4 and yesterday for whatever reason my home button and other buttons next to it dont work anymore. I tried restarting, shutting off for a day but still no go.
I did notice that after i press it repeatedly, a few minutes later the phone "jerks" like buttons were pressed...

Any recommendations? in the meantime i downloaded an app to serve as "home button" but not as efficient.

Does this persist in Safe Mode? If so, then it's likely that there's a hardware or firmware problem. You could try using Verizon's Software Repair Assistant: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...support/knowledge-base-116950/&token=Ke1PwA5X
