My call volume drops when the phone is in the Samsung dock

Whenever my S 4 is in the dock and my headphones are plugged in, people tell me they can barely hear me. As soon as I remove the phone from the dock, the volume is fine and people comment on a notable improvement in volume and their ability to hear me. Any thoughts?

Do your headphones have a built-in mic? I'm thinking that the dock is blocking the microphone.
