My callers can hear me but I can't hear them on Galaxy Note 4

I can be on a call - whether with bluetooth or not - and somewhere in the middle of the call I lose sound. But what's weird is that they can still hear me, i just can no longer hear them. I have T-Mobile. Not sure what the deal is. I've asked for a replacement but it did the same thing so I sent it back. I've deleted several apps, cleared my cache and nothing seems to work. Anybody else???

Welcome to Android Central! Did you use the same SIM card on the replacement phone? It's probably not a SIM issue, but it may still be worth trying a replacement SIM card.

I am also on TMOBILE'S network in Dallas. We have their headquarters here, so of course, the signal is great. I love my Note 4, but I think the inherent problem Android has is, if there is a software problem, the carriers aren't educated enough to know the specifics for so many android models and makes. The only thing they can do is replace it with a refurb, which they did in my case. I noticed it only happens if I'm on LTE. You can switch to 4G and you won't have this problem, but that's not what we paid for. I have decided to go with Apple, simply because it works. I use my phone for business and it's just not a viable option right now. I hate I'm going to lose my stylus and touch wiz. The last problem I noticed, and I wonder if you deal with this, in the beginning the phone would fly thru the menus. Now it's very laggy. When I answer a text message the program takes a couple of seconds to load. And once I begin typing the lag is so bad that it will either double up on keys or do a partial swype. So frustrating. I guess the plus with Apple is they have stores on the ground so if I have a problem, particularly a software problem, there is someone to talk to. I have 4.4. I believe right now, not the new software release, which I heard has even more issues. I started to wait on the S6, but overall my disappointment with Samsung, to little to late.

Re: My callers can hear me but I can't hear them on Galaxy Note 4

Just started having this problem on my Galaxy 3. When I receive a call, the caller can hear me but I cannot hear the caller. Sounds like the volume is down to 1, but it is on the highest setting.
I can hear the call if I plug in earphones, or on the speaker, but NOT on the phone itself. AT&T had me try a couple of things (safe mode...etc.) but still have the problem. Don't want to do factory reset unless really have to. The answer above does not seem to apply.

Re: My callers can hear me but I can't hear them on Galaxy Note 4

The most obvious answer is the way you're holding the phone. If you hold the phone slightly off centre, your earlobe will block the tiny front speaker and you won't hear anything. Also, if you grip the phone above the middle, chances are your thumb is on the volume control and you are accidentally reducing the volume to low or zero. Not saying this is what's happening with your phone, but two things I've noticed that should be checked first before declaring the phone to be faulty - especially if the problem is intermittent. Both happen to me quite often. Speaker volume is separate from ring volume but both use the same control.

Appreciate your reply, but I'm quite familiar with the holding of the phone and the volume control issues. No, this is not what's happening. The problem is not intermittent...it appears to be a problem with the phone. Must be time to say bye-bye. Thanks for your response.

Whose headquarters are you talking about? T-Mobile headquarters are in Bellevue, Washington.
