My DE One is rooted so what about updates?

The first update has poped up since i rooted my DE One. It states that Software update 1.29.1540.17 is available. I assume that OTA updates on a rooted device are a no no. Is this accurate? If so, what are the implication? Losing root? Bricking the device?
 
I believe that you won't actually be able to install the application as long as you are rooted, you'll get an error message in the installation process saying that your device has been modified and such. If you made a Nandroid backup of your stock ROM (without root), restore it and then flash the stock recovery back. If not, then I believe the best way to go about this would be to install a RUU.
