My device, A Samsung Galaxy Tab A, will only rotate in 3 directions. How do I fix it?

I've tried:
Rebooting twice, restart and power off
switching auto rotate on and off several times
Reading this forum but the steps lead me nowhere.... settings, accessibility, check auto rotate, but there is no auto rotate option on that screen, or any of the subscreens..i.e. visual, hearing, etc.

Welcome to Android Central! Is the 4th direction that doesn't seem to work when you hold the tablet upside down in portrait orientation? Does that happen no matter what you're doing on the tablet (i.e., using an app actively, or just staying on the homescreen)?
