My Droid Razr Maxx fell in the toilet and was submerged for only a couple minutes. What should I do?

A

AC Question

It fell in the toilet, and since then I have tried blowing the water out, shaking it out, and even vacuuming it out. After it fell in, the power button stopped working so I can't turn the phone on or off.. and it just keeps booting up and shutting off. What should I do?

DON'T turn it on. remove the battery, sim card, back cover. put it in a bag of rice for 24hours. It should wick the moisture away. Note: I have not tried this but have only read accounts of it. Does it work? I suppose we will find out. Best of luck.

Welcome to Android Central! See this guide: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...ow-s/477140-guide-oh-no-my-phone-got-wet.html. Unfortunately, water damage can occur pretty quickly--circuits can short out. You could take it to a repair shop, but the tricky thing is that it may be hard to tell how much repair work has to be done. It could be only one isolated component, or perhaps multiple components, or even the entire motherboard. For a phone as old as the Razr Maxx, you may need to ask yourself if that's worth it.
