So my battery was in the red yesterday and I went to charge it, but for some reason, my phone wouldn't charge. I thought it was a bad outlet at first, but I've plugged my phone into several outlets and it won't charge. What can I do from here?

There are three things that can be bad at this point, since you've tried several wall outlets. You've only eliminated wall outlets in your troubleshooting.

- The micro-USB cable. You never mentioned you tried a different one. Do you know if the micro-usb cable is bad?
- The charger--how about plugging (with different cables) into a known good USB port on a computer?
- The phone -- you can try the same charger and cable with a different device--this will tell you if the phone is bad. If the phone charging plug is bad (or shorted, or whatever) even if you got the phone on launch day you still have 1 month left in your warranty. I suggest you call Sprint if you've narrowed things down to the phone. There's nothing else that you can really do.

Oh yeah, should've been more clear.

I don't know if the cable is bad, but I tried it on my computer on all ports and no avail. My mouse picked up so it's not my computer.

I don't have any other chargers or cables with my phone other than the one it came with. I just bought it two months ago, so warranty is still very much in tact.

If you've tried some computer ports in addition to the adapter, take it in. Even if it's just that the USB cable went bad, they'll replace that. If it's your phone, you want that replaced as soon as possible.

The evo doesn't have the strongest charging port, as its not braced... Try to limit use of the device while its charging in the future..

There is a bug that can appear on EVOs. When the battery drops below a certain point, the phone will no longer charge it. Sprint and HTC both know about it and have said it will be in the next MR.

You can pop the battery on a standalone charger for 20 minutes, then put it back in your phone and it'll charge fine. Until the MR is released, techs really should be exchanging these phone.

Not saying this is your problem OP, but it might be and is something else to make sure a tech checks. You could also order some dirt cheap batteries and standalone chargers off ebay. Try to keep your good battery juiced. If you forget and can't charge it, swap to another while you put it in the standalone. Then, just wait it out. A fix will be coming for sure. If this is the problem, it's software issues, not a defect in your phone.

Thanks everyone, I am going to contact Sprint and see what's up. I used the phone a lot, though I only use it sporadically when it's charging except when I am transferring files and such,

tndank, if Sprint and HTC knows of this, then it is not my fault. I've never done anything to the phone. So if it's a manufacturing or software defect, then they'll need to replace it

If you have Service and Repair (or TEP), a Sprint repair shop will fix it or order a replacement. Without S&R it's a $35 charge.

If you don't have S&R (or TEP) and don't want to pay, the phone warranty is from HTC. Contact them about sending it in.

Don't have TEP. Heard too many horror stories about the service to even bother. Besides, if it's a known error, which the service rep seemed to have implied, then they need to service it regardless.

Had the same thing happen to me last month....the charging port inside the phone had broken off....took it back to my local sprint store where i purchased it and got a free replacement. But be warned went to another sprint store first where I didnt purchase it and they wanted to do the TEP route.....for something was an obvious phone defect....so its gonna depend where you go.
