My external speaker on my LG. G VISTA WHAT CAN I DO?

My speaker just stopped putting out enough sound to work well enough to hear it. If you want to hear what is coming out of the speaker you must put it to your ear and listen to it, which totally defeats the purpose of having the "hands free" option. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!! I use to use my speaker more than the traditional way of holding a phone due to this phone heating up so bad i can only hold it to my face/ear for so long before i can't take it anymore.
I really appreciate any help you can give.

It sounds like it may need attention if it is both overheating and has a faulty speaker.
