My fear on this phone

I love it right now - minus the dead weight of the keyboard....

My fear is that this Snapdragon thing coming out will be what the IPhone is to ATT and now the Droid - the specs on this thing seem blitzing and the once thing hurting this droid is pinch and zoom which it's brother has in Europa.

Why don't we have it here ?? is it a conflict with APPLE? I mean the ERIS has P & Z

I don't know why we don't have pinch and zoom. I've never used it so it's hard for me to miss it, and it wasn't a deal breaker for me. Is it that huge a feature?

If you have poor eyes - you just put your thumb n index on the screeen and pull apart until you see it perfect - the IPHONE made this their key feature..

There is always going to be something better coming up. Just the way things work with technology. I say go for it and get a Droid.

Apple has patents on the pinch to zoom feature in the US. The reason they haven't sued HTC over the pinch to zoom is because Apple infringed on a patent of theirs. So they would have to deal with the counter suit. I can't remember for the life of me what that was exactly but HTC has Apple by the proverbial balls so to speak.

Certain apps (like PicSay) give the P&Z feature... it would be very nice to have it on the browser, but I can live without it. Have you noticed that you can double-tap the area you want to read (in the browser and photo gallery both) and the Droid will zoom to that spot? Seems to do a really nice job of zooming the right amount to still fit the screen with enough of whatever you were looking at.

Doesn't the Pre have pinch zoom too?

so does my zune.

it's perplexing, but we'll probably get it one way or another once the milestone is released and people get their hands on the code.

i'm really interested in the HTC Passion, but if it's going to be an android version of the HD2, it might be a little too big. a 4.3" screen is awesome, but it's also going to make the phone at least 4.3" in the diagonal dimension too.

but who am i kidding really, i'll probably get it when it comes out just because it's new. :p

Personally I dont see the big deal with this to everyone, I am not saying it wouldnt be nice feature but at the same time why so big deal... right now I double tap and it zooms, which when I think about it seems smoother than having to move hand up and use 2 fingers to zoom (just tryboth ways touching the phone and see that its much quicker and easier to double tap) This is just my opinion, For everything thr Droid Does I dont find it a deal breaker, owned mine since day one and am overall very happy with it over and wm or bb phones ive owned...

I read somewhere that it was because of copyright infringement too, but then I read in a different article that Apple wasn't really going after the Pre (and another device) for the pinch zoom. So who knows.

The Droid is capable of multitouch - its just that none of the apps that came with the phone support it. Developers are free to add in multitouch capabilities to their apps if they want. I read somewhere that there are already a few apps on the android market place that support multitouch... can't remember where though

Huh......I'll guess you never actually used it. Very simple to pick up on and natural to use.....one handed or two handed......last time I checked, most of us have 5 digits per hand and all you need is two fingers to pinch zoom. Hey....when you pinch a person, do you have to use two hands? I find myself constantly trying to pinch zoom on the droid.

No, double tap zooming is not as good. You might as well tell me using that mouse pad on the keyboard is just as good as a touchscreen if the droid didn't have touchscreen.

One way or another, I am sure we will get it.
