My first Android device...

After a wide range of windows phones I had to decide what comes next when microsoft stopped supporting it. Compared to apple, android was the more open system with more choices and possibilities. I started with the Samsung Galaxy A3 2017, which was a very beautiful little phone.

I actually don't recall which came first in my household. Either the Samsung Galaxy S II for my oldest son, or the 1st gen Amazon Kindle Fire tablet for my wife.

Yes, the tablet used a forked Android, but it was still Android.

Both came out late 2011, but by the time we got them it was early 2012.

My wife had been on the iPhone since '09, and I was on my BlackBerry Torch 9800 at the time. We both started with the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 in '07, but she switched to iPhone upon the first upgrade opportunity. I stuck with BlackBerry until 2017 when I finally got my own Android, the Galaxy S8.

My first phone was Lumia 520. I still remember it's smooth polycarbonate back. My first proper Android phone was Samsung J7 [2015 edition]. I remember it looking gorgeous with a custom Substratum theming engine. Too bad newer phones don't support Substratum mostly.

It didn't fast charge or anything but had a better battery longevity than my current device mainly because probably it had a less taxing screen refresh rate. Ironically, it was my 3rd phone overall; my second being the short lived Lumia 550 [Yes, I loved Windows Phones] because there was no path to upgrade from WP 8.1 to 10.

I then used multiple Android phones including Nokia,Techno and Realme.
