So I am on my second G4 after my first was replaced due to the bootloop of death this past July. It was replaced with a refurbished "repaired" 507 serial number with a blue dot on the sticker indicating its refurbished. Also a HW rev 1.0, so I'm not sure if it is still capable of bootlooping... but it is incapable of much more and I've been on the phone with Verizon several times.
First off its hit or miss with calls; incoming and outgoing. Sometimes I connect, sometimes not. Sometimes people get me, other times not. Seems to like to stay on 1x a lot and gets very hot in the upper 1/4 of the phone. Will also frequently disconnect me mid call and will also randomly drop bluetooth connections. I know its the phone because it will disconnect to all devices that are connected at once, like my car and my watch or my watch and my SB Roar. Frustrating...
Got so hot the other day it went into thermal shutdown. And that was while it was sitting on the table and not connected to a charger or in a call.
So far Verizon has had me do a malware scan - clean
Hard reset - no changes.
They told me they did a network reset/reprovisioning - things were good for a day
Had me turn off advanced calling and wifi calling - no difference.
Had me change from global mode to LTE/CDMA - no difference.
Call quality compared to my wife's V10 is terrible. Does not sound like my previous G4 sounded.
It has rebooted itself twice that I know of, not sure why, but not like it went into a bootloop like my previous G4
Got a bad taste in my mouth about the G4, and from what I read about the V10 bootloop issues, that as well.
I love the V20 but there is no way I am going to pay that much for a new phone, considering I paid full price for my G4 a year and a half ago.
Might insist on them replacing it with a G5, . Seems like they aren't having many hardware issues. I need a phone with replaceable batteries and storage. Too bad the G5 and newer V series don't take the same battery as the G4... I have three batteries and two of the pocket chargers.. nopt to mention a leather back and two cases... facepalm.
Anyway, needed to vent. Now switching back to my trusty G2 for the rest of the weekend.
