I have been running a Nexus since May, currently stock (un rooted) and updated to Jelly Bean. As I do every night, I plugged the phone in to charge and went to bed. I came down this morning and the phone will not power on. I noticed that I am not getting any indication of the battery charging.....it is just stone dead.

I tried pulling the battery, plugging in to another socket, plugging into a computer and I get nothing. Not sure what to do but it is too early to call Google. Anyone have any thoughts?

Too early to call Google? I thought they're available 24/7... anyway you have to call Samsung not Google. These are the guys you will have to contact for the warranty repairs. Looks like a USB failure, I've seen forum threads with people reporting this issue...
Did you try another USB cable btw? Also I'd try wiping the contacts on the phone and the battery with a soft piece of cloth just to make sure they're clean...

So here are the steps taken to get running again.
1. Take the phone apart
2. Change batteries
3. Change Chargers
4. Plug into a computer
5. Curse
6. Dig iPhone out of desk
7. Repeat 1-5
8. Call Google
9. While on hold, repeat 1-5
10. Its working

No clue what happened here...going to monitor closely

This happened when I first got mine in December. Plugged it in, and when I went to check it again, it was just gone. No life, no indication that it was charging or anything. Just a shiny brick. I took the battery out multiple times, and plugged it in again with the battery out, etc. Then just one time of trying to turn it on, it came on again, and hasn't done it since.

No wonder... Extremely poor Samsung's QA leading to too many faulty devices.. Still waiting for the Nexus phone built by Motorola. Untill then, iPhone to the rescue...

Wander over to the Atrix 4g or Atrix 2 forums at forums.Motorola.com and view those opinions of a Motorola Android phone.

Of course there is no manufacturer/maker that produces problem-free electornics. We all know that and there are forums for Motorola, HTC, Apple products, etc etc. with various issue complaints. I really should have put it from a bit different perspective - The customer service, which in this case completely sucks on both Google and Samsung sides. I'm still waiting for the refund for my second (and last) defective Galaxy Nexus phone which I sent back for over two weeks ago and I called them yesterday again about it... Whereas if something goes wrong with an iPhone you can call or take it to a nearest Apple store and you'll get the best customer service Apple is known for. I really wish Google had the same level of CS because Jelly Bean on GNex is fantastic and I really wanted to have this phone. but I just can't afford loosing money over a piece of electornics which has a questionable quality and so poorly supported by the manufacturer.
P.S
My Motorola Atrix 4G (MB860) worked like a clockwork for over a year untill I sold it to get the GS2 Skyrocket but of course that's not an indication of best quality product, just solely my experience. Moto's CS was a bit better than Samsung's too.
