My God can someone explain this, is it a phone or network issue on my Android?

So after being a loyal IOS guy for years I grabbed an LG G2 D800 4 months ago, loved it!!!

But..............for the past 4-5 weeks here is the issue I have.

I tether (hot spot) at home on my PC and laptop, super fast not issues for the most part but when I use the actual phone for data and surfing the ATT connection drops to 4G 1-2 bars and the surfing is soooooo slow.

How could it be different for using the phone vs tethering? I kills me that I can barely use my phone for an hour at a time.

Could dropping the phone a couple of times hurt it?

Also side question, my phone got updated to 5.0.2, is there any ay to revert back to an older os?

Are you using the phone to surf at the same time as it's being used as a tether? Or are you talking about other times when it's not being a tether? How's the AT&T signal in general?

Dropping a phone always has a potential for causing problems, depending on how much shock the phone's internals go through, and how often this occurs. But it's hard to imagine that a drop would cause the phone to selectively have difficulty with mobile data only when you're using the phone itself, as opposed to using it as a tether.

Downgrading the system is complicated and requires rooting, so I wouldn't recommend it at this point.
