Nice job! The mount looks good, as well as your video. I just wish I had an old mount laying around to modify. Looks like ill be paying for the Motorola one.

I did the same thing with my old braketron mount. I got the mount on clearance at circuit city for 3.00. I glued a magnet in it and it works flawlessly. I am in the process of making a custom wood media dock since I have a snap on case and the case doesnt fit in the oem dock.

Thanks gang. I certainly could afford the 30 clams or w/e they are charging for the mount, but it was just more of a project than anything else. After several days of use, she's working great. Cheers everyone.

Nice work. :)

I wish I had an old car mount laying around now. I purchased the multimedia dock, but I'm probably going to exchange it for the car mount, since I don't see myself using the multimedia mount anytime soon.

Be carefull

I use velcro

Magnets can wipe away bits and bytes stored in the phone and on the micro SD card. If youi get one that is too strong, you can have a problem one day.

If you aren't sure, it might be best to do what Yiannis did, use velcro.

flash media is not affected by magnets in the same way hard drives are.

i'd worry about too strong of a magnet messing with the screen before i worried about data loss.
