Since i updated to 4.1.1. Last night my browser homepage has switched to a blank tab with 'about blank' written in the search bar. I cant switch it back to my preffered homepage and also i cant close the tab to exit the browser,i have to use the tablet back button and when i go back on the browser ive got the blank 'about blank' page on my homepage.

Has anybody else experienced this,is it a bug in the update or have i picked up a virus from the internet? Thanks for any help.

That is a browser setting. Just go to the page you want as a home page and then change it in the browser's settings.

hiya pat, thanks for answering but its nothing that simple. ive tried all the obvious stuff like clearing cache, cookies etc, changing homepage in settings. whatever I do the about blank page is always there. on my samsung browser I used to be able to close the browser by pressing x at the top of the tab I was browsing on but now I cant, it goes to about blank and wont close, I have to use back button on my tablet to exit browser and then next time I open my browser I get 'about:blank' as my homepage, its driving me mad and its only happened since the 4.1.1. update. does anyone know if its connected to the update or have I got some kind of virus?

Ok, here's another thought I use when I keep opening to the same page that I have not chosen as my home page. Open the screen that shows the recently open apps (On my Nexus it is the double square on the bottom of the screen) and swipe everything to the right until you end up with a clean home screen. Hopefully that will clear it up.

I am having the same problem with the about blank page as homepage and it will not change it no matter what I have tried. I can't even close that page and it is always there. Has anyone figured out how to fix this?

I chatted with Samsung support about the built in browser ( Safari) with the Android 4.1.1 update on Galaxy Tab 2 having a blank page homepage and not closing except through the task manager. He said I should go to the app manager and do all three options and reboot after each one. I only have two options for Internet: force stop; tried didn't work, and clear data. I don't want to clear data and lose all my passwords, bookmarks etc., so maybe someone will and let us know?

The only work around I've found is not to use the back button. Use the home button to close browser and then the task manager to really close the browser. When opening again it'll go to the last webpage.

Ok guys, same problem here. I thought icecream sandwich was great, now im not too sure. They say they are aware of this and are making a fix for it. However im scared to do any updates again because I feel like I was downgraded.

Whenever I get a persistent page showing up when I open the browser I tap the tabs icon to see the pages separately. Then, I swipe the offending page away.
